My Experience As An Interviewer

Taking interviews is not new to me. I have started taking interviews 12 years back. From then, may not be regularly, but once in a while I used to take interviews. But, in my current role, taking interviews became a part of my role as I have to select my own team. I have taken more than 30 interviews in the recent past. I have selected only one whereas I have to select two. Now the problem is, when I ask for something, the candidate say "I know this theoretically, but in my current job, I have not got any opportunity to work on it" I asked them whether they have created any example to see how the command works. The answer is 'NO'. My question is, are they thinking that, they will learn theoretically and implement practically in the job? How they are expecting their current job to give them opportunity to work on all the commands that are available in a software. There will be hundreds of commands in a software and a currently their job may require only the usage of 10...

IT Humor---Frustation of a developer

Bug logging in a project. – Only For Fun How Roshan D’Mello (QA Tester) frustrates developer (Mukesh Thakur) Roshan D’Mello: Hey Mukesh, there is a bug in your code. Type a text in user name text box and press enter. Beep sound doesn’t appear. Mukesh Thakur: How can that be a bug? There is no requirement that beep sound should come. Anyway, I will assign it to offshore and get it fixed. After 2 days, Mukesh Thakur: Roshan, bug is fixed. Please verify. After another 2 days, Roshan D’Mello: I have re-opened the bug because sound is not coming in some PCs. Sound is coming in my machine, but my colleague Rajat Choudhry is not getting the sound. After another 2 days, Mukesh Thakur: Not a bug. I observed that your friend Rajat Choudhry has old IBM machine. Unlike your DELL machine, IBM machines do not have inbuilt speakers. So, to hear the sound in Rajat Choudhry’s machine, please use head phones and then get the bug closed soon. Another 2 days, Roshan D’Mello: I have re-opened the bug be...

Why India Loses When Sachin Scores a Century

This is again a forward mail, but, we think its worth sharing for those who think that, when Sachin scores a century, India will lose. Sachin Tendulkar gets to yet another century but India end up on the losing side - How many times have we seen that? While there would be the Tendulkar bashers and critics who say that India lose a match whenever Sachin scores a century, the statistics prove otherwise. Out of the 48 hundreds, We won 33 , Tied 1, Draw 1. And we lost only 13. 1. 137 off 137 (Strike rate 100) balls Vs SriLanka at Delhi in 1996 World Cup. India scored 271/3 in 50 overs. The only other 50 score was from Azhar. SL made 272 in 48.4 overs. Manoj Prabhakar had 4-0-47-0. He also opened in the innings and scored 7 of 36 balls. 2. 100 of 111 Balls Vs Pak in Singapore - Apr 96. India 226 all out in 47.1 overs, When Sachin was out score was 186/4 (We cant blame because next 3 are match fixtures). Pak had a reduced target of 187 from 33 overs. 3. 110 of 138 Balls (Slower...
